HOUSTON Gala

It is finally time to go to Houston for the awards gala for the Hunting Art Prize. Here is hoping I don't bring my artwork back home, that it stays in the big city. My entry is "Thunderstorm--Canadian River". It is 30"X48", acrylic on canvas.

where does the time go....I can't seem to keep up any more.

Just attended the 50 th Anniversary of the Discovery of Natural Bridge Caverns, between San Antonio and New Braunfels, TX. This event had 500+ attendees, the filling and burying of a time capsule, and hearing the story of the discovery by the three remaining cavers: Joe Cantu, Preston Knodell, and Orion Knox. The fourth member of the discovery team, Al Brandt, passed away in 1998. Then there were tours of the discovery portion of the caverns, refreshments, and country western band for entertainment.

Great news.....I am one of 137 finalists selected from over 1400 submissions for the 2010 Hunting Art Prize. This is a statewide competition for painting and drawing. There is a two tiered jury process, I have made it through the first phase. In April the next and last jury process will occur with the winner announced on May 1st.

It is hard to believe that it is February already. Getting ready for our gallery's hosting of the 5th annual "For the Love of Art" show. Boxes of paintings have been arriving and we will start hanging on Monday. The show runs from Feb. 9 - 27th.
The location is Austin Art Space Gallery, 7739 Northcross Drive, Suite Q. We are one block south of Anderson Lane in the brick Northcross Center. Our
location faces to the east where we can watch the construction of Walmart.

scarborough building show

Hanging this show was very exciting. First we get there and discover we are on the basement level but need to hang on the street level. Luckily the management has a manlift for us to use going up and down between the windows opening on the street and where we were. I have included a few photos of the process involved.
